Pure Copper is the Top Choice of Culinary Experts!
The even heat that only copper provides is second to none for coaxing out the subtle flavors of savory foods such as a simmered sauce or a delicate sauté.
How to care for your copper skillet and sauce pan
The pure tin lining of your hand forged copper pan has a melting point of 425° Fahrenheit. This temperature is easily exceeded on any stove top. Food and liquid in the pan will moderate the heat. We recommend following the tips below.
- Never pre-heat, not even for a moment.
- Place food and liquid in the pan before turning on the burner.
- We do not recommend using hand tinned copperware as a frying pan. Copper is for gentle cooking. For browning we highly recommend carbon steel.
- Use wooden utensils to avoid wear and damage to the tin.
- Hand wash with soapy water and a soft cloth. No abrasives.
- Polish the exterior periodically with a high quality copper polish to keep it sparkling! Or if you prefer a rustic look, forego the copper polish and allow the exterior to develop a natural patina.
How to care for your copper serveware
To polish or not to polish? You can maintain the bright shiny surface of your copperware with a copper polish like Bar Keepers Friend or Wright’s Copper Cream. For a rustic look you can forego the polishing all together and allow a rich patina to develop.
