Instructor: Peter Clark, Professional Blacksmith
Date: March 22 & March 23, 2025
Time:  Saturday March 22: 10am-4:00pm and Sunday March 23: 10am-2pm

Project: Tools and Trivet. On Day 1 we will make the tools (slot punch and drift) that we will use on Day 2 to build our trivet. Tool making is foundational to the art of blacksmithing. It’s like having the keys to the hardware store. Need a specific tool? Make it! We will be working with H13 tool steel. You will learn punch and drift layout geometry, the properties of H13 tool steel and basic heat treating.  This class is ideal for those with their own shop at home who want to start making their own tools.

Note: We will be doing some grinding using belt sanders which can be dusty work. We recommend that you bring a dust mask. We will also have them available to purchase at the school for $3 each.

Class Size: 5 students
Class Level: Advanced. Experience required. 14-17 year old students welcome with legal guardian in the class and with instructor pre-approval. Please call or email in advance so Peter can discuss the skill level needed.
