Project: Trammel
A trammel hook is an adjustable hook used to suspend objects at variable heights. Trammel hooks have traditionally been used to hold a pot or kettle over a fire while cooking, allowing the height of the pot to be easily changed thus the controlling the rate of heating.
Class Size: 5 students
Class Level: Adult (18 yrs & over). Advanced Beginner-Intermediate.

Prerequisites: Some experience required. This class will involve hole punching, drifting and forging to dimension.

Refund Policy: Eligible refunds will be issued as website credit according to the schedule outlined below. Monetary refunds may also be requested minus a 5% service fee.

Refund schedule: 100% refund with at least 30 days notice, 50% refund with at least 14 days notice. No refund with less than 14 days notice. If class does not fill we reserve the right to cancel and issue a full refund as a website credit.

PLEASE NOTE:

The roll up door will remain open during class to provide plenty of ventilation. There will be lots of fresh air circulation in the shop so please dress in layers for your comfort.

Please show consideration for your fellow students by staying home if you have any symptoms of cold or flu.

 

SHOP WEAR & PERSONAL SAFETY EQUIPMENT

Safety equipment to bring:
Safety glasses (mandatory), also recommended over prescription glasses
Ear protection
Leather gloves (optional)
Leather apron (optional)

Attire
Clothing should be cotton or wool. No synthetics like windbreakers or nylon pants.
Leather shoes.
No loose fitting clothing.
Long hair must be tied back.

Bring your own water bottle, lunch and snacks as needed.

This book is recommended for anyone becoming serious about blacksmithing. It is project based and takes a deep dive into basic blacksmithing techniques.
