We practice the principals of Reduce & Reuse in our daily lives therefore our lard is packaged in a genuine Ball or Mason canning jar. This jar is reusable an infinite number of times. Put up your own preserves or use to store dry goods. Recycling is a third option but not nearly as efficient and resource savvy as reuse! This lard is ready to use and we never use any preservatives. Store as you would any food: Refrigerate or freeze until ready to use.

The lard is frozen when it is packed and may thaw during shipping. This is to be expected and is not a concern as lard is very stable at room temperature. Once it arrives we recommend putting one jar in the refrigerator for use and storing the extra jars in the freezer until you need them.
